Biography
1946 born in Alf on the river Mosel
1962-65 studied graphic arts and photography
1966 painted his first pictures involving geometric structures
1966-67 periods of study in Canada, USA and Scandinavia
1967-68 studied at the Helsinki Institute “Ateneum” for Industrial Design
1970 began working as an independent artist
1971 first paintings based on serial principles, systematic investigations
of pictorial forms, ordering systems and pictorial structures
1979 worked on the project “Modul 618”
1983-86 taught at the Finnish Academy of Arts in Helsinki
1989 first drafts for the land-art project “20 Steps”
1997 installation of “20 Steps around the Globe“ in Ropinsalmi, Finland
2005 the project “light“, Mt. Toubkal, Morocco
2005 installation of “Oxford2Oxford“ at The Queen's College, Oxford, England
Lives and works alternately in Germany, Finland and France
